Football Ranters 2011 NFL Draft Big Board

Welcome back, Lunatics. The 2011 NFL Draft is just a week away and so we here at Football Ranters are publishing our first ever Big Board. Here's how it works: we will rank the top 32 prospects, in order and regardless of positional value, ie. DE is a more valuable position than WR, but we're ignoring that fact.
Check out the Football Ranters 2011 Big Board after the jump.

1. Patrick Peterson, CB LSU (6'0 219lbs)
2. A.J. Green, WR Georgia (6'4 211lbs)
3. Marcell Dareus, DT Alabama (6'3 319lbs)
4. Nick Fairley, DT Auburn (6'4 297lbs)

7. Prince Amukamara, CB Nebraska (6'0 206lbs)
8. Julio Jones, WR Alabama (6'4 211lbs)

16. Da' Quan Bowers, DE Clemson (6'3 280lbs)
17. Anthony Castonzo, OT Boston College (6'7 311lbs)
18. Corey Liuget, DT Illinois (6'2 298lbs)
19. Gabe Carimi, OT Wisconsin (6'7 314lbs)
20. Muhammad Wilkerson, DT Temple (6'5 305lbs)
21. Mark Ingram, RB Alabama (5'10 215lbs)
22. Mike Pouncey, G Florida (6'5 313lbs)
23. Blaine Gabbert, QB Mizzou (6'5 235lbs)
24. Derek Sherrod, OT Mississippi State (6'5 321lbs)
25. Phil Taylor, NT Baylor (6'3 334lbs)
26. Akeem Ayers, OLB UCLA (6'3 254lbs)
27. Cameron Heyward, DT/DT Ohio State (6'5 294lbs)
28. Marvin Austin, DT UNC (6'3 305lbs)
29. Justin Houston, DE/ROLB Georgia (6'3 270lbs)
30. Adrian Clayborn, DE Iowa (6'4 280lbs)
31. Mikel Leshoure, RB Illinois (6'0 230lbs)
32. Aaron Williams, CB/FS Texas (6'1 192lbs)

Notes: Nick Fairley and Marcell Dareus are interchangeable. Dareus has more versatility with his ability to play nose tackle and that is the only reason he ranks ahead of Fairley. Fairley is going to make some QB's out there opt for early retirement, he is straight up nasty. Von Miller all the way down at six has more to do with his total inability to be of any use at all to a team that plays a 4-3 defense than the Football Ranter trying to knock him. Miller is talented, no question, but he's too small to play DE in the 4-3 and his best skill is rushing the passer. Da'Quan Bowers injury is a chain tied to a steel weight tied to a big rock tied to John Goodman: it's weighing him down a bit (WARNING: Understatement). Ditto Mark Ingram at twenty one- a RB with one knee is as useful as a fourth trimester abortion. I mean sure, maybe you go for it, but you probably realize later that you could have made a better decision...on Ingram. Definitely talking about Ingram there, not the Football Ranter's 2005 vacation outside Montreal...aaaaaanyway- Marvin Austin above Justin Houston! Houston relies too heavily on his speed and needs to develop better pass rushing moves and work harder on play diagnosis to be an effective every down player. Marvin Austin has the talent to play all three downs right now.

Until Next Time, Lunatics.
